We have made it to May and have one more BIG scholarship application due next week. Deposit for housing will be due June 1st and the roommate situation worked out better than we could have dreamed!
Here are a few notes I am sharing (and I may be the only one to go back and review this for child #2 next year):
Don’t procrastinate. Start taking SAT/ACT at least during Junior year!
Corsicana friends, meet with CAP/Afton Aldama by summer before Sr. year.
Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.Get several letters of recommendation and make copies!
The biggee! Make about 10 copies of your FAFSA report, SAT/ACT Scores, acceptance letters, updated resume and file them. When scholarship application time comes, the copies are there and ready!
Have several copies of official transcript on file with the above.Spend time on your essays.
One of my biggest takeaways for all my friends–anyone that knows me, knows how much I value the academic side of education. While that is all fine and dandy, it is also so important to be involved.
Community, extra-curricular, sports, clubs, work…just do it! Do a lot of something!
